Livelihoods
Objective: To enhance the socio-economic empowerment of young women and men in Uganda through entrepreneurship and livelihood development initiatives.
Key Interventions:
- Entrepreneurship Skills Development: Build sustainable economic empowerment by training young people and women in entrepreneurship skills. This aims to promote self-reliance and long-term economic stability.
- Financial Literacy: Strengthen the capacity of young people and women in financial literacy, ensuring they can develop simple yet effective business plans, manage finances, and make informed economic decisions.
- Vocational Skills Training: Provide hands-on training in various trades such as:
- Hairdressing
- Carpentry
- Liquid and bar soap making
- Reusable sanitary pad making
- Cake baking and other confectioneries
- Tailoring
- Piggery and poultry keeping
The goal is to equip participants with practical skills based on their interests and market demands. - Provision of Start-Up Kits: Support teenage mothers and other vulnerable young women with start-up kits, enabling them to begin their own businesses and become self-sufficient.
- Food Security Initiatives: Promote food security within communities by implementing environmentally positive strategies:
- Water Harvesting: Encourage small-scale drip irrigation systems through water harvesting techniques.
- Organic Manure Production: Support the community in producing organic manure, which is used to increase crop yields.
- High-Yielding Crop Production: Promote the cultivation of high-yielding crops, both for household consumption and commercial purposes, enhancing food security and income.
